Sun exposure is the primary cause of premature extrinsic aging.
UVA and UVB rays both contribute to skin cancers, and premature aging through free radical damage. Wrinkles and fine lines are signs of skin aging. Anyone whose skin shows signs of aging is a candidate at one point for Fractional Resurfacing or Fractional Remodeling. There are two types of aging, Intrinsic and Extrinsic. Intrinsic aging is the normal, chronological aging and can be influenced by genetic tendencies. Extrinsic aging is the result of environmental exposures, including sun, smoking, pollution, stress, and alcohol consumption.
Wrinkles Treatment by Fractional Lasers
While Fractional Remodeling reverses the appearance of aging, il can’t however stop the aging process.
Fractional lasers work by creating hundreds of microscopic perforations : however the skin around each of these perforations remains intact. This allows your skin’s top layer to heal from the edge of these tiny holes very rapidly, which significantly improves your complexion.
The Fractional Laser light passes through patented optics or is delivered via a scanner to penetrate the skin with tiny thermal channels. In each channel it creates a micro-injury, without disturbing the surrounding tissue.
These micro-injury sites (usually 15-20 percent of the treatment area at each session) start the process of healing. As collagen remodels, skin tightens and scars improve. The intact, undamaged skin around the treatment site allows for a faster recovery.
Erbium and CO2 laser resurfacing technologies have been used over many years. The fractional approach leads to an optimal relationship between effectiveness and side effects.
Our CO2 Fractional Laser "EXELO2" sets fine channels with an average diameter of 250 µm. The EXELO2 scanner offers the highest possible flexibility and usability.
The wavelength of the CO2 laser EXELO2 , 10.6 µm, is well above the spectrum of visible light. The absorption by water is less than with a Er:YAG laser (like the ICON 1540).
This means that the CO2 laser vaporizes (ablates) the top skin layers. At the same time, the heat primarily leads to a shrinking of the skin and a secondary increase of the skin thickness due to the thermal stimulation of the connective tissue.
ICON 1540 and EXELO2 laser technologies represent an evolved solution for skin rejuvenation, compared to earlier laser skin resurfacing techniques that involved more traumatic side effects.
How the session is conducted ?
Protective eyewear is necessary for the patient as well as the doctor.
Fractional laser skin rejuvenation treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes for a full face, but could be longer if your condition is more advanced.
The number of sessions will depend on your individual condition.
Fractional Laser Potential Counter-Indications
- Fractional laser procedure is not indicated in patients with connective tissue disease or autoimmune disorders.
- It cannot be used on patients taking Accutane or for several months after stopping Accutane®.
- The procedure is not usually done on patients with active acne cysts and large pustules.
- The same is true for highly active Rosacea.
- Care must be taken in patients who get fever blister attacks on the face.
- An anti-herpes medication can be taken prophylactically.
As for any other laser treatment, it is not applicable during pregnancy or recently sun-tanned skin.
After your Fractional Laser Treatment …
Fractional Remodeling treatments are safe and effective, without injections or surgery. You can expect your skin to be flushed and red after the treatment, but this is completely normal and short-lived. As long as you carefully follow the post-treatment instructions, this will limit the difficulties you might experience.
How much the procedure hurts varies from person to person. In general, the procedure can feel similar to a strong sunburn. Your doctor may prescribe an over-the-counter pain medicine to make you more comfortable. The sunburn sensation is likely to continue after the treatment. These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process and should improve quickly.
Fractional Laser Session Cost
Depending on the number of areas treated and their size, a session varies in price from 160 to 380 €.
Your first appointment will be a medical consultation and will be invoiced 45 € TTC
