Hyaluronic acid and collagen play an important role in maintaining the structure of the layers of the skin. Collagen gives the skin its firmness while hyaluronic acid plays a role in tissue hydration.
Why and how to use hyaluronic acid injections ?
Who are hyaluronic acid injections recommended for ?
Hyaluronic acid filler injections are primarily recommended for the reduction of facial wrinkles, the main consequence of skin aging, namely perioral wrinkles, nasolabial folds or smile lines and possibly the lion’s wrinkle. The injections can also be used to smooth tear troughs, augment the cheekbones, or redraw and give volume to the lips.
It is then a question of restoring the face’s shapes, and the injections are deeper and of greater volume.
Hyaluronic acid injections
During your first appointment, your doctor will examine the areas to be treated and provide information about hyaluronic acid and its possible risks. They may recommend that you combine different products and techniques for a more comprehensive anti-aging action. They will also provide a detailed consent form that you need to will sign before the procedure.
For safety reasons, your doctor will only use absorbable fillers, and in particular hyaluronic acid.
Before the procedure, you must avoid all medication with an anticoagulant effect (aspirin, anti-inflammatory medication or anti-coagulants).
If you are taking a long-term anticoagulation treatment prescribed for cardiological reasons, this precise point will need to be discussed with your doctor before undertaking any modification of your treatment.

Hyaluronic acid and mesotherapy
The Centre Laser Sorbonne offers treatments combining mesotherapy and specific hyaluronic acid injections.
NCTF 135HA from Filorga laboratories contains hyaluronic acid as well as 53 essential nutrients (vitamins, amino acids, coenzymes, antioxidants, nucleic bases and minerals).
This solution is suitable for patients who suffer from dehydrated skin, with a loss of tone and fine lines, which give the face an aged appearance.
The hyaluronic acid injection session
Your doctor may prescribe an numbing cream that will need to be applied in a thick layer on the areas to be treated 1 to 2 hours before treatment. In very sensitive areas, and on a case-by-case basis, the numbing effect can be supplemented by the injection of a local anaesthetic. In fact, some filler product directly incorporate an anaesthetic component. The more viscous the filler, the larger the diameter of the needle used, which comes with a greater risk of pain.
However, filler procedures are generally very well tolerated.
The filler is injected into the medium or deep dermis depending on the type of product used and the area to be treated. When it comes to restoring volume, the hyaluronic acid injection takes place under the skin and sometimes even under the muscle. The Teoxane range offers several versions of the same injectable depending on the wrinkles (fine, medium or deep).
A plumping effect, which is directly linked to the quantity of injected hyaluronic acid, appears immediately. The hydrophilic nature of its components also attracts water molecules, which further restore plumpness.
After a hyaluronic acid injection session
The procedure itself lasts about twenty minutes. A facial massage can be performed by your doctor to better distribute the product over the area.
The infiltrated areas may exhibit minimal redness or swelling, and possibly small bruises at the injection site. A simple foundation will conceal these transient marks of treatment.
During the first days after the procedure, you will need to avoid UV rays as well as excessive heat like saunas or hammams. In case of a perioral injection of hyaluronic acid, the patient should not receive dental care for the next few days.
Cost and durability of hyaluronic acid injections
A precise quote for your treatment will be drawn up during your first Anti-Aging consultation billed at €45 including tax.
The cost of the hyaluronic acid injection is directly linked to the number of syringes needed to restore and/or fill in wrinkles.
For example :
- 1 syringe costs € 350 tax included.
- 2 syringes costs €500 tax included.
The products used at the Centre Laser Sorbonne are new generation and have an average lifespan—varying from patient to patient—of about 1 year, at which point it will be necessary to repeat the treatment in order to maintain the cosmetic effect.
