FAQ on Centre Laser Sorbonne treatments

FAQ Skin aging

Over time, the sun’s UV rays damage our skin. Our complexion becomes less uniform, brown spots and fine lines appear. The skin withers and thus loses its texture and elasticity. Creams and serums can reduce these signs of photoaging, but can in no way erase them.
Due to its specific technology, lasers provide a solution where other methods have failed. The laser treatment treats skin imperfections, stimulates the production of new collagen and allows your wrinkles to fade. Your natural complexion will be more radiant, your skin texture softer.

FAQ Vieillissement cutané
- How does laser rejuvenation work?
Collagen is a family of fibrous proteins present in the skin, giving it its natural elasticity. As we age, collagen degenerates, and wrinkles and fine lines appear. Overexposure to the sun can damage collagen and cause pigmentary disorders (brown spots), dyschromia (color changes), or even a crumpled appearance. Lasers use a wavelength that targets tissue located below the epidermis, at a depth that no cream or serum can reach. The laser will stimulate the production of new collagen in the skin and visibly reduce wrinkles, fine lines and acne scars.
- Which laser would suit me best?
Centre Laser Sorbonne offers a wide range of equipment (laser, radio frequencies, HIFU) for rejuvenation and non-ablative remodeling procedures. During your initial consultation, you and your doctor will decide, which procedures best suit you depending on the condition of your skin.
- Is the treatment safe?
When used by experienced doctors, lasers are extremely safe. The laser energy is selective and targets only collagen or pigments.
- Is it painful?
No. Some patients report slight discomfort in certain areas. Depending on the technology, a numbing cream can however be considered.
- How many sessions are needed?
You will observe the first results from the first sessions, but time will do the rest. The Anti-Aging program is progressive, since the skin regenerates gradually. While laser and radio frequencies require multiple sessions, HIFU is unique as it only requires 1 or 2 sessions. Of course, long-term follow-up is recommended to fight the ongoing aging process.
- What happens after treatment?
Laser rejuvenation can induce moderate erythema (sunburn effect) that subsides during the day. There is no specific care, but it is advisable not to expose yourself to the sun.
