FAQ Hyaluronic acid injections

The injection of hyaluronic acid is a reliable and safe cosmetic technique that corrects the imperfections associated with natural aging.
Here are the most frequently asked questions about hyaluronic acid injections.

- What is hyaluronic acid?
Naturally present in our skin, hyaluronic acid plays a fundamental role in its upkeep: it hydrates the epidermis, ensures its elasticity and firmness to give it its smooth and plumped appearance. In cosmetics, hyaluronic acid is a filling product that is used to fill in wrinkles or restore volume. We can treat the eyes (dark circles, valley of tears), the face or even the hands and décolletage...
- What is the difference between Botulinum Toxin and Hyaluronic Acid?
Botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid are two different treatments. One does not replace the other. Hyaluronic acid is a filler product that allows for the treatment of wrinkles by filling them. Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant used to treat the muscles that cause certain wrinkles to appear. The two are often complementary.
- How is an injection of hyaluronic acid carried out?
The hyaluronic acid injection takes place at the Centre Laser Sorbonne and takes only a few minutes. The injection points and quantities are very precise and require an excellent knowledge of the anatomy of the face. The doctor will give you a precise quote for the products necessary for the filling procedure.
- What are the pre- and post-injection recommendations for Hyaluronic Acid? How to maintain the results?
We recommend that you do not inject during the 15 days following a dental procedure. The week before the injection of hyaluronic acid, it is strongly advised not to take aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs or anticoagulants (consult your doctor before stopping any usual treatment). In the 3 days following the injection of hyaluronic acid, it is recommended to avoid consuming alcohol, taking a plane or practicing a sporting activity. For the next 15 days, it is not recommended to perform dental or other cosmetic procedures and to expose yourself to the sun or extreme temperatures (intense cold, sauna, hammam ...).
- How long does it take for the effects of hyaluronic acid to appear?
The effect of an injection of hyaluronic acid is immediate and will subside in about a year. The result can therefore be appreciated directly.
- Should I repeat the hyaluronic acid injection sessions?
On average, the action of injecting hyaluronic acid lasts 6 to 12 months. Over time, the filler injections can be spaced out.
- Is it painful?
The Centre Laser Sorbonne strives to guarantee optimal comfort during the injection session in order to limit this apprehension. This is why we use hyaluronic acid fillers containing lidocaine, the topical anesthetic most used in the world by surgeons and dentists.
- What are the risks of a hyaluronic acid injection?
The injection of hyaluronic acid is a common and safe practice of cosmetic medicine. Like any medical procedure, complications are rare but possible, they are detailed in the information sheet of the French Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery and will be explained to you during your first appointment. The doctors at the Centre Laser Sorbonne monitor patients after the injections.
- At what age should hyaluronic acid injections start?
There is no official age to start injecting hyaluronic acid. As soon as the first small expression lines appear, the injection of hyaluronic acid can reduce the first signs of aging.
- What is the price of an injection of hyaluronic acid?
The price of an injection of hyaluronic acid varies depending on the work to be done and the areas to be treated. As an indication: from €350 - €800 depending on the number of syringes necessary for treatment. For two syringes the price is around €500 TTC.
