Cryolipolysis is a body contouring method that makes use of cold to destroy fat cells in the body. It allows for a significant reduction in fat without the trauma of invasive procedures such as liposuction, and without any risk of affecting surrounding tissues as may be the case with ultrasound or laser lipolysis.
The LipoContrast DUO® is the new generation of Cryolipolysis (destruction of fat through cold) developed by Clinipro.
The Centre Laser Sorbonne was amongst the first centres in the world to use this new technique. This isn’t simply the latest form of a pre-existing machine, but a innovative technology that builds on new research regarding the reduction of localised fat pockets.
How does it work ?
The Cryolipolysis technology of the LipoContrast DUO® is based on a well-documented physical phenomenon (the Peltier effect) : a shell-shaped applicator "sucks" (in a vacuum) the fat fold in. The Cryolipolysis starts with a heating phase, which is then alternated with abrupt cooling. This thermal shock present at the beginning and the end of the treatment is the real innovation of the LipoContrast DUO® when compared with other technologies available on the market.
The LipoContrast DUO® is tri-phased (heat-cold-heat). Fatty tissue undergoes a triple thermal shock, which increases results. Fat cells are particularly sensitive to cold and heat : this important variation in the fat cells’ temperature allows for a faster, more effective breakdown of adipocytes by modifying their crystallisation.
A portion of the adipocytes is even directly eliminated during the session. The remainder will be gradually eliminated over a few weeks.
Uses of Cryolipolysis
The LipoContrast DUO® is recommended for the reduction of localised fat pockets (fibrous fat tissue included) in different zones thanks to 3 applicators of different sizes : Abdomen, flanks, back, arms, tops of thighs, double chin, chest and knees
Your Cryolipolysis session
Your doctor places the applicator (also called transductor) on the target area. The applicator combines :
- vacuum to “capture” subcutaneous fat
- cryothermolipolysis technology (contrasting tri-phased cryolipolysis)
- the cryolipolysis procedure is generally painless for the patient who perceives a light tension near the treated area because of the vacuum effect, then a cold sensation during the cryolipolysis phase.
Potential contraindications for Cryolipolysis
- Aside from pregnancy, which is always counter-indicated as a matter of principle
- Raynaud disease
- Arteritis of the inferior limb
- Area with inflammation, injury, dermatitis, circulatory problems, cold urticaria
- Umbilical or inguinal hernia
After the cryolipolysis treatment
The expected effect happens rapidly : a portion of the fatty cells is destroyed during the session while the rest is eliminated in 3 to 4 weeks. Around 30% of treated fatty tissues can be eliminated in just one session.
The LipoContrast DUO® represents a 33% amelioration when compared with a conventional Cryolipolysis treatment.
Quick results : approximately 80% of the final result is achieved within 3 weeks.
The cost of a cryolipolysis session
€268 tax included per session. One session is equivalent to the treatment of an area of maximum 17cm x 17cm. Depending on the thickness of the fatty tissue and the desired results 1 to 3 sessions around 4 weeks apart will be necessary. Duration of each session : 1 hour.
A precise quote for your treatment will be drawn up during your initial consultation billed €45 including tax.
